As content creator, one of the biggest challenges social media managers face is maintaining social media engagement. Most social media managers would agree that the key to the growth of a channel is only when the community is engaged. Engagement can be a comment or support in the form of likes, repost, share, or other actions on the post.

  1. Ask questions in a creative manner.

A plain, simple, open-ended question may not garner the attention of the audience like a witty question with multiple answers. This can engage the audience in not just answering the question but also tagging their friends or sharing it with their friends to know their opinion.

  1. Organize contests or giveaways

Contests are a great way of getting the attention of members and engaging with the community. Contests can have rules where members will have to like, share or subscribe to your channel. The sharing of contest updates will multiply the reach of the post organically.

  1. Q&A sessions are a great way to engage with followers

In YouTube, organizations often engage with their audience through Q&A sessions. Q&A sessions give the audience an opportunity to interact with the organiztion and ask for information or details they always wanted to know. This way the relationship between the community manager and audience becomes strong.

  1. Tagging people in your posts

For communities which are in the initial stages, tagging influencers from specific field helps in amplifying reach. By tagging the post, you make the post visible to related audiences and through them the organic reach of the post is also amplified. But a word of caution is that it should not be overdone since it could also cause a backlash.

  1. Content generated by the community should be encouraged.

Every community manager should try to encourage the community to generate content for the forum. This way members get involved in the community. User generated content will lead to more engagement when users share content with their friends. The overall reach and engagement gets a boost once the community is involved in generating content.

  1. Associating with a social cause.

Audiences appreciate when the community is involved in a social cause. The community’s responsibility towards the society is a major point on how the community engages amongst itself. Such initiatives will bring in opinions in the form of comments, likes, shares etc. 

  1. Share current events

Social media has brought in a revolution and it has been in the area of how news is shared. The audience is no more dependent on news channels for their dose of current news. Social media channels have turned out to be a great platform for sharing current news. Forums should always try to update its audience with the current news and should share it in a responsible manner.
