How to grow your Instagram Following

It is proven that your business needs to be on Instagram because you absolutely cannot miss the 500+ million users on Instagram.

In order to improve your Instagram potential, you need to be consistent with your postings, regularly reaching and connecting with new people. In this article we discuss how you can use some tools to improve your profile.

1. Free Tools by Instagram

The new Business Profiles feature on Instagram is a boon for marketers. Very much like Facebook’s business profile, this is loaded with features such as “contact”, call to action, and sharing details so that users can call, email, or text the business.

The most important aspect of Business Profiles is the availability of Insights option. This gives you insights on how your followers are engaging with you. With this you can keep a tab on the pattern of engagement and position your brand in accordance with the trend.

2. Cross Promotion

If you wish to bring people who are already following you on other social media profiles to your Instagram page, then you need to cross promote across all platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. This will bring people from all these platforms to your page.

3. Don’t overdo posting

Your followers are keen to know about you and what you have been up to, but don’t overwhelm them by posting incessantly. This will lead to some users unfollowing your account.

There is no assured or guaranteed number of posts that will get you the desired traction. However start posting at least twice daily and experiment with the timings to find your sweet spot. Here, make optimal use of analytics in finding out the best time to post.

4. Engage with followers

If someone makes an effort to comment on your post then you should ensure to reply back and thank them. This helps in creating a loyal customer base. Also try to create content that will lead to people tagging their friends in your post such that it reaches a larger audience.

5. The hashtag needs to be interactive

One has to go easy with the hashtags. Though hashtags are the key to reaching targeted audiences on Instagram, overdoing hashtags makes the post look cluttered and doesn’t serve the purpose. Create hashtags that a customer can use once they have purchased a product.

It will help you in searching for the hashtag and reposting pictures of customers who bought your product and used the hashtag. It will accomplish two major goals:

  1. It will inspire more people to use the hashtag with your product so that they are featured on your page.
  2. Also when they do post your product with the hashtag, they are displaying your company and your products for free to their followers.
